Durango XII * 10/02/2021 is a beautiful golden buckskin, expressive, and with fantastic character. The owner purchased him directly from the breeder as a foal at 6 months (see photos!) old and from then he spent his youth outdoors in the field with other colts and horses until he was 3 years old. With the best care and responsibility, with human contact, he was a bright, balanced horse from the very beginning, who greets you happily and is well-motivated for the work. His training level is very solid and absolutely correct for his age, as his owner is a professional and excellent rider. She emphasizes gentle touch, clear commands, and correct reactions without ever overtaxing the horse. Her gentle reins and loving encouragement are clearly paying off. Durango slides over the arena smoothly and well balanced, is easy to collect into a seating trot, which is comfortable to sit in, and can then be stopped and transitioned on a long rein. He stays perfectly still when mounted (even with a mounting aid) and stays calm when you “jump off” after riding. He’s simply a joy to ride! His movements are fluid and supple, making him very easy to handle. He is also relaxed and completely unafraid in the countryside for hacking. He behaves like a gelding anyway, completely relaxed, so much so that one could even consider to keep him as a stallion, especially since he has already been color-tested as a dun by Ancce (see list in the gallery) and could possibly be a future breeding stallion. His bloodlines include many precious old Cartujano lines.
